Description: Within the emergency management space, what it takes to mobilize Indigenous Knowledge into action requires both greater understandings and more robust discussions between emergency practitioners, staff and Knowledge holders. To facilitate this, this two-day session will explore practical examples, case studies, and invite Knowledge holder experiences by thinking through real world emergency preparedness and search and rescue scenarios. This session will bring together Permanent Participants, EPPR, states, and conference-goers to hold breakout thematic discussions, and offer the space to discuss and understand positions, capacities, and realities in emergency management. In order to move from understanding to mobilization, this session will also look at practical next steps to action what was heard.

Facilitator: Herb Nakimayak, Inuit Circumpolar Council
