Improving Cruise Passenger Ship Emergency Evacuation in Arctic Conditions

Descripton: Emergency evacuations in the Arctic are fraught with challenges—freezing temperatures, poor visibility, and communication barriers can turn an evacuation into a life-threatening ordeal. This presentation introduces the Automated Lifeboat Manifestation Embarkation System (ALMES), an innovative RFID-based solution that streamlines passenger tracking, reduces human error, and enhances real-time coordination. By improving safety, efficiency, and communication, ALMES strengthens emergency preparedness for Arctic cruise and passenger vessels. The presentation will explore how this cutting-edge technology could potentially revolutionize evacuations and contribute to safer shipping in one of the world’s most extreme environments.
