Description: Wildfires in the Arctic are increasing, yet Scandinavian conditions present unique challenges due to climate, governance and geography. This presentation explores wildfire risks in Sweden and Norway through three EU-funded projects (TREEADS, FIRE-RES, and FirEUrisk). It will examine fuel flammability, mapping, weather extremes and policy implications—essential for informed decision-making in a sparsely populated region with complex jurisdictions. Collaboration is key to improve prevention and response, and standardized data using e.g. ISO 10303 facilitate this. Join the session for the latest insights on wildfire resilience in the Scandinavian Arctic.
