Social Preparedness

Description: The COVID-19 pandemic revealed failures of crisis management surrounding social needs. The presenters in this session come from the newly established ‘Research center for children and youth, and social preparedness – PrepChild´, at Nord University. By foregrounding a re-theorised concept of "the social," the presenters will reorient "preparedness" to the realm of "social preparedness" – to focus not only on life and health in crisis prevention /response but on social and communal structures and dynamics. The presenters will discuss the concept’s capacity to approach cross-disciplinary initiatives in education and practice, in order to prevent the marginalization and enhance wellbeing for children and youth in the Arctic.
