Arctic Health Preparedness Project: Challenges and Opportunities for Strengthening Civil Society and Authorities’ Collaboration in Arctic Emergency Planning and Response
Description: As part of the Norwegian Red Cross and the Northern Norway Regional Health Authority’s project on Strengthening Arctic Health Preparedness, an international conference was hosted in Oslo in January 2025, devoted to discussions of challenges and risks for health preparedness in the Arctic, and the identification of existing and new modes of collaboration to tackle emergencies in Arctic settings. In this session, the Norwegian Red Cross presents of some of the main findings from the project so far, including recommendations for going forward.

Bio: Øyvin Lund is Team leader for the Preparedness and Crisis Management Unit at the Norwegian Red Cross. Øyvin has been the project leader for the Norwegian Red Cross and the Northern Norway Regional Health Authority’s joint project on Strengthening Arctic Health Preparedness for the last year.
