The Kingdom of Denmark’s Chairship of the Arctic Council, invites for a special event in Nuuk, 4 August 2025.

As part of the Kingdom of Denmark’s Chairship of the Arctic Council (2025-2027), a special Kaffemik will be held aboard the Statsraad Lehmkuhl, in connection with the One Ocean Expedition. Come learn about Greenland’s important role in the Arctic Council and hear directly from members of the Chairship team about their priorities – focusing on the people of the Arctic, sustainable development, and climate action.

There will also be games, music, exhibitions and informations stands to explore. This event highlights Greenland’s leadership and its commitment to strengthening Arctic cooperation.

Kaffemik Schedule

15:00 - 19:00 - Kaffemik and Open Ship - Participants can freely roam around the ship, visit the Arctic Council stands, view the exhibitions and play Inuit and Sámi games throughout the day.

15:00- 15:20 Opening remarks & Kingdom of Denmark’s Chairship Program. Speaker: Bentiaraq Ottosen - Minister of Social Affairs, Labour, Domestic Affairs and Environment

17:00 Musical performance by Varna

19:00 End of event

The Open Ship is hosted together with the Arctic Mayors' Forum, Arctic Frontiers, and UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

In the morning, there will be discussions on 3 key themes of Semersooq's Chairship of the Arctic Mayors' Forum: tourism, youth mental health & wellbeing, and education. Here Greenland’s leadership and its commitment to strengthening Arctic cooperation will be highlighted, and it will encourage knowledge sharing between Norwegian and Greenlandic actors.
